Mary Line Brown

April 28, 1950 – March 11, 2021

Mrs. Mary Line Brown (née Joubert) died unexpectedly in Beaumont, TX on March 11, 2021, at the age of 70. Mary was born on April 28, 1950 in Lafayette, LA to Sidney and Ella Mae Joubert. She graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in 1968. After high school, she went to Chenier Business College and graduated with a Business Degree. She married George Brown, Sr. in 1972. The couple had three children within seven years.

Mary was a generous individual who loved everyone and who was passionate about cooking and feeding her family. Her children remember her as a kind, gentle and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She was baptized January 9, 2011 and was an active, dedicated, and faithful servant of Jehovah’s Witness for 14 years and often witnessed through-out Beaumont.

Mary wore many hats during her journey. She attained her first job at Tower Bowling Alley while in high school. She then began working at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and then became an Insurance agent. Mary’s passion was helping others, which she did while being employed at Hotel Dieu and Baptist Hospital. Mary landed at BISD where she was hired on as a substitute in Food Services and worked her way up to becoming a Food Service Manager. She worked for BISD for over 30 years and retired in 2011.

Mary is survived by her husband; George Brown Sr. of Beaumont, TX; children, Oleshea “Shady” Mc Cloney (Paul), Terhea “Tank” Bazile (Clarence), George “Pune” Brown, Jr. (Kristal) all of Beaumont, TX; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Delores Booker (JD), Shirley Thomas (Nelson), Gayla Edwards, Joyce Roper, Charles Joubert (Vanessa), and Sidney Joubert Jr. all of Beaumont, TX, and Ritha Rosaya (Lionel) of Lottie, LA. and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; Sidney and Ella Mae Joubert; brother, Jeffrey Joubert and great-grandchildren, Ariyonna Janae Brown and Caiden Jace Brown.
