James Edward Berotte 1956 – 2020

James Edward Berotte

May 16, 1956  –  July 5, 2020

James Edward Berotte was born May 16, 1956, to the late Joseph Marshall Berotte and Joyce Mae Fontenot Berotte of Beaumont, Texas. James departed from this life at 2:45 pm on July 5, 2020, after a long illness. He was surrounded by supportive and loving family and friends during the last weeks of his life. James was a native of Beaumont, Texas and was raised in the Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. As he grew into adulthood James developed his own personal relationship with God. James became employed at Exxon Chemical in Baytown, Texas as a machinist shortly after graduating from high school. He also worked various jobs throughout his adult years as a Master Mechanic. James lived his life on his terms, worked hard, and played hard. He always had a smile on his face no matter what he was feeling. To those he loved James was very protective, however, he never met a stranger. He would give you the shirt off his back if needed. He was a dim light in the darkness as he attempted to minister to those who so desperately needed it. His life was filled with joy, laughter, and heartache, which he handled with strength and courage. He faced his illness with bravery and inspired those around him. James had made peace with himself, his family, and friends but most importantly God! He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph M. Berotte and Joyce M. Berotte, an older brother, Joseph E. Berotte, his maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, and uncles and most recently his sweet baby great-nephew, Sol omon D. Walters. James leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved daughter, Jaime Evangeline Berotte of Baytown, Texas, three brothers; Joseph M. Berotte Jr. (Michelle) of Baytown, Texas, Martin K. Berotte (Arline) and Leo J. Hank Berotte, both of Beaumont, Texas, three sisters; Evangeline Fontenot (Adam), Clair H. Boutte (Peter) and Mary A. Handy (Patrick) all of Beaumont, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. James Edward will be sorely missed and forever loved!
