Dorothy Mae Pollard is the daughter of Garfield Pollard and Virginia Lavergne. She was born on August 29, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas. Dorothy received her education at Charlton Pollard High School.
At an early age, she was a member of Lily of the Valley Baptist Church and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. H. Peacock. Later she moved her membership to Rose of Sharon under the leadership of Rev. T.O. Baker. Dorothy served as the president of the usher board.
In 1947, she united on marriage to J.C. Clay. She married Emmitt Vital in 1982 and they were together until his timely death in 1986.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her father, Garfield Pollard, Sr.; her mother, Virginia Lavergne; her sons, Eugene Clay, Wilbert Vital and Harold Vital; her brothers, Garfield Pollard, Jr., Oliver (Bea) Pollard, and MC (Mack) Pollard; her sisters, Helen Cook, Rose Lee Prudhomme and Lucille Turner; and her husband, Emmitt Vital.
She leaves to celebrate her life, her sons, James Clay and Albert Clay; her daughters, Debra Sias, Chyron Clay, Pamela Vital-Celestine (Shelby), Vera Campbell ( Aubrey) and Sophie Vital and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, 2 great, great children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
